About

Katherine is a crochet designer based in Greater Manchester. They specialise in crochet plushies known as amigurumi and custom freeform designs.

Katherine has been experimenting with crochet design for over 15 years. They developed a love of crochet through their GCSE Textiles projects and continued to create crochet pieces after completing the course.

In 2015, Katherine developed a long term illness that left them bedridden for periods of time. During this time, Katherine used their crochet skills to create small amigurumi pieces for charities and their own Etsy shop. It was during this period of isolation that Katherine developed a passion for connecting people around the globe through a shared love of cute crochet pieces. Through social media, Katherine connected with people with similar long-term illnesses and an interest in crochet.

During the pandemic years, Katherine continued to create bespoke crochet pieces through their Etsy shop including Animal Crossing and Pokemon characters. In 2022, Katherine started working full time due to the cost of living crisis and had to wind down their 5-star Etsy shop.

In 2024, Katherine started taking commissions again with a community piece for Remberance Sunday.

Katherine lives in Greater Manchester with their spouse and beloved Yorkipoo. They work in the voluntary sector supporting grassroot organisations.
